Privacy

Spass is a private app among friends, run by Christoph Sax (christoph@cynkra.com).

What is stored

  • Your name and email, from your login.
  • The ideas, photos, notes and Interested marks you add.
  • The memories you are in, with their notes and photos.
  • The days you opened Spass, one entry a day, without pages or times.
  • A cookie that keeps you signed in. No analytics, no tracking, no ads.

Who sees it

  • People you know see the ideas you share with them, with their photos, and your notes and Interested marks on ideas they see. The people you pin are the ones your new ideas are shared with by default; only you see who they are. People you don't know on Spass see nothing of you.
  • A memory and its photos are seen only by the people who were there.
  • Send to chat on your own idea, or on your part of a memory, makes a link. Whoever has it sees that idea with its photos and your notes on it, or your first note and photos with the memory's title and day, for 7 days or until you stop it. Interested marks, other people's notes and the names of others don't show there.
  • The person who runs Spass sees when you joined, who invited you, the days you opened it and how many ideas, marks and notes you have, not what they say.
  • Nobody else sees it. The data is not sold.

Where it is

  • The app and its data are on a server at Hetzner Online GmbH, Nuremberg, Germany.
  • You sign in with your email address and a code that Spass mails to it through Resend (United States). There is no password.
  • Notifications, if you turn them on under Notify me, go through your phone's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla) and contain the notification's text: who did what, and the idea's or memory's title.
  • Emails under Email me what's for me go through Resend (United States). They contain your email address and the same lines as For you, with the notes you were tagged in. You can turn them off on Me or from the email.
  • If you add your calendar link from Me to a calendar, that calendar gets the title, day, time and description of each idea you're in on, and keeps a copy. With Google Calendar or Outlook the copy is at Google or Microsoft. Reset link on Me stops it.

Deleting

  • What you delete, an idea, a photo or a memory, waits 30 days under Recently deleted on the Me page, seen only by you, so you can bring it back. Then it is gone, photos included.
  • Delete my account on the Me page removes your account and your email address, your ideas with their photos, your notes and Interested marks, and your part of every memory, including your photos, at once, with what waits in your bin. The other people's part of a memory stays.
  • Questions about your data: christoph@cynkra.com.
